Chapter IV

Dear Woodworm,

In my many dealings with the lowly creatures, I realized that in many instances, we do not even have to enter the minds of the creatures to draw them away from the enemy. All we have to do is to distract them with their physical surroundings and circumstances. These lowly creatures are self-absorbed creatures that are easily distracted by what happens around them. When they are communicating with the enemy, get someone to drop a message to their mobile phone or let their urge to go to the rest room becomes predominantly important.

Let these creatures compare with each other and lead them away from communicating with the enemy to result in a bunch of creatures attending a worship program which means they sing songs and do what they do for each other’s sake. No jumping, no joy, no smile, maybe let them raise their hands. Most of them don't know what it really means anyway.

Symptoms of this may include the creatures becoming very conscious in the way they look and worship and being very aware of the creature beside him. In this, we’ve succeeded in bringing the focus of the session to themselves and there we have: A wonderful concentration camp of lowly creatures waiting for us to devour.

From your affectionate uncle,
Screwtape
