NS Camp

Just shook off the hang over from the NS camp
. Though it was only 3 days 2 nights of camp, it has been an amazing camp. I don't think it was amazing in terms of the fire works or the fancy stuff but just by seeing how God moves and how He works just put me in awe of His faithfulness and His deliverance. I'll upload some camp highlights once i get my hands on the camp photos and videos.

Really glad that the 2 NS Ministry within the church to go know one another better through the camp. I didn't set very lofty ambitions for this camp but God still moved. Guess through the games, workshops and teachings, the camp would have spoken to everyone who attended the camp.

The ministries went through 2 weeks of praying and fasting for this camp and myself on an absolute fast for the last 2 days before my preaching. Really thought i would not make it and was really tempted to break my fast. Gave myself all sort of excuse like i won't have energy to teach or that it would "not be wise" for me to do something so untested for such an important event. But thank God i stuck through. When it came to preaching night, the fasting really helped me to be spiritually alert and humble and keep my focus on God. I told God before the event that when all things go well, I want to give all glory to Him. Thank God it went well.

Many lives responded during the camp and prayerfully, when we all go back to our life station, we'll remain changed.

Will upload the camp highlight video once i get my hands on it.

Regards,

jie hui

An End to Our Acts Series Word for Life

Taught the last lesson to the NS group yesterday. It is the 22nd lesson and it took 5 months+ to complete. It has been an amazing journey for myself to prepare and script the lesson. The Acts church just amazes me. The faith, the zeal, the circumstances under which they functioned and their "nothing will stop me" mentality charges me up so much.

Part of the reason why we started the Acts Series is because the NS ministry at that time was rather weak and we felt it was a good time to recast the foundations of the ministry. I guess its not something that i would expect instant result or immediately tangible fruits, but i hold on to God's promise that once the word of God is preached, it will not return empty. Thanks guys for sticking with us through this exciting but sometimes arduous series.

Yesterday's lesson was aptly titled "Riot" and "Revival" and was taught from Acts 8:1-8. It was an important part of Church History where "Riots" descended on the church which was still mainly in Jerusalem and the Christians were forced to move to others parts of the world and it marked the start of the "Revival" where global missions started.

I will post up the rest of the lessons onto the resource hub by Tuesday.

Next week will be our NS combined camp together with the poly side. I'm so excited at what God is going to do through this camp. The camp theme is "Operation Push Button" and will be about activating and rising up Man to answer God's Battle Cry. Do keep us in prayer and will update you people on the camp soon.

Regards,

Jie Hui

Whatever could go wrong went wrong

Had a slow start to the day but whatever could go wrong went wrong today.

Was planning to play a video for NS west disicples' meet today and asked Yinglin to lend me a set of speakers. Booked Europe room so that i can play the video on the projector. I'll play the video for 50 mins and challenge the group. After that the east will come in for WFL and we can have an amazing time of learning from the word of God. yeah, good plan but whatever could go wrong, went wrong.

1345: Ying Lin forgot to bring the speakers. Ha. Junliang called me and asked me if i had a plan B. Oh well, i could go to nexus and try and dig up some speakers i suppose.

1350: But nexus dun have! Asked around and can't find a speaker. It was really important as my entire meeting was a video sermon by Bill Hybels.

1359: When i reached reception, i was pleasantly surprised when i saw Yinglin carrying a set of brand new speakers. Haa.. according to him, he was so guild striken that he went to buy a pair. Wow. Thanks Yinglin for the spirit of excellence.

1400: I walked into Europe room planning to carry on with my perfectly planned meeting. Guess what, Pastor Lawrance said he booked the room! Well, i doubled check with the online booking thingy and i was certain the room was mine. so its a case of double booking again. Oh well. I couldn't possibly chase the Hope Bangkok worship team who is here to give guest music lessons out right? so here we go on the frantic search and negotiation for room.

1420: After 20 mins of calling people and negotiation, i decided to move the west disciples' meet to B1 and WFL to istana Park. Thanks Carmen and Eevoon for your willingness to help find a solution out of this. But guess its God's plan for us not to be so comfortable since today's WFL teaching is on persecution.

1430: We finally settled down on B1 and started disciples meet. It was weird to have 10 guys sitting in the middle of the way and blasting an online sermon loud on the speakers. There were many onlookers but it went well. Really God blessed that there was no security guard who came to chase us away. Normally they will chase us away after 5 minutes but this time round, we stayed there for an entire hour! Praise God! We even had to steal electricity for the speakers and the laptop from some obscure powerpoint!

1445: We had to rush down for WFL. Guess what, it started to pour. The place was terrible for teaching. It was the worse place possible to teach.

It was pouring really heavily and loudly.
There was a dance practice going on.
There were people learning guitar with a super loud tambourine .
There were people smoking.
The worse was one a group of people started to celebrate a birthday by smashing cake and throwing someone into the water.

I was like wow, what an environment to teach about persecution.

But i really want to salute our two teachers for the day, Hanyang and YingLin. They really really did very well in this kind of environment. I am so proud of them.

Hanyang teaching the 1st point

YingLin taking the 2nd

NS Vision Night

I am finally done with preparing for the vision night. 6 weeks of preparation cumulates until the big day. It has been an amazing journey.

Have been praying and fasting for the week and really excited about what is to come. Have been sensing very strongly that the Holy Spirit is preparing us to pour himself out in to the camps. We will see revivals in the camps. It is something that we have been communicating and talking about. The anticipation level for this vision night is something i have never seen before in my 3.5 yrs in this ministry. It amazing. We're expecting God to do great things.

Do keep us in prayer as well. Pray that people's life will really be changed and that the experience will be so inspiring that biblical and powerful man will shake heaven and earth (and hell too) during the Vision Night

Jie Hui

NS Chalet - All glory goes to God.

Finally received the photos for NS chalet and shall share with everyone the miracles God did during the chalet. It was really amazing.

The story started on wednesday of the week when Hanyang gave me a urgent call to tell me that the chalet we booked for the chalet was very very small and it would be impossible for us to host the ministry and our friends inside the chalet. At that point of time it was not so bad because we could still pin our hopes on the bbq pit which we booked together with the chalet.
There was more bad news on thrusday when we placed our order for bbq food on thursday. In our previous event, we ordered 400 bucks of food and it was just nice. This time round, we only have enough budget for 240 bucks of food. NS guys are hungry people u noe.

This bad news thing did not change when we arrived at the chalet on friday, one night before the church anniversary. The chalet assigned to our room was in one pathetic corner at the side of the chalet. There was not much lighting there and it was surrounded by other pits. It would have been impossible for us to host our event there.

Everything that could went wrong went wrong. In the night, 20 NS guys gathered in the small chalet and we prayed and prayed for God to provide for us. I explained the situation to the people, that prayed by faith that God will the best possible place for us to hold our event. After explaining the situation for the location, i explained the situation for the food where we were expecting to have insufficient food. We prayed by faith that just like how Jesus fed the 5000 with two fish and five loaves, there will be more then enough food for everyone. There was alot of faith in the room and we concluded that it has reached a stage that if it ever works out well, it really God.

Faith is faith, but we still don't have a location. hahaa.. I vividly remember rushing to the reception after the anniversary to ask for a bbq pit. It was 6:30pm and we still did not have a location for our event!! The visitors were coming into the chalet already and things were getting tight.

Guess what is the ending? haha.. obviously i wun spend so much time typing the above stuff if we had to cancel the chalet ehh. haha.. God provided. Just about 10 steps away from our chalet there was another bbq pit area. God provided for us not one, not two, not three for FOUR bbq pits!!! We needed multiple pits as it was a bbq party. If you know downtown east, sat night is like the peak bbq period and what is the possibility of 4 pits beside each other being unused by its chalet users??? The whole chalet area was packed except for that.

Not only that, God also provided for as a grass patch to play our games on. Grass patches are hard to come by in land scarce downtown east. And God provided. We played our ice breakers on the grass patch. Amazing yeah.

If that is not enough. Food was amazing. We had one whole silver tray of chicken wings left over and three unopened chicken drumlets packets in the fridge. One large silver tray of mee hoon left over also. It left us dumb founded. The food just never seem to finish.

The event was a real success. We saw a total of about 20 visitors for the event. All guys event!! People were just sitting around the bbq pits and talking about life and really got to know each other better. Let the pictures speak for themselves.

Guys do the silliest thing

The police is still looking for the murderer.

You see the legs behind? You'll never imagined the game taboo can get violent. Pillows and blanket were flying around

Haven't figured how did 20 guys squeeze into this chalet.

Starting the fire.

The ice breakers.

One of the four pits.

What can i say but thank you God.

Jie Hui

NS Vision Night

So many things happened on Vision night. So many things were said. I'll just put some quotes which i remember saying.

"We want to be the biggest and most influential NS Ministry in Singapore by the end of 2008, not one NSF will go through their NS Life without hearing about the NS ministry in Hope Church Singapore. This will be our part in CG08."
"As we regionalise into our geographical regions, there will be synergy in the caregroups. With one vison, one commission and one missions, we will push forwad the kingdom of God. we will march back to our camps with fire in our eyes."
"The ransom has already been paid on the cross and now its time for the Army of Hope to go into enemy territory to rescue the hostages bonded by sin and held in chains by the Devil."
"We declare war on the Devil in our own camps"

Divine or coincidence

Today we had our NS teaching before service. The teaching was on Nehemiah's prayer to ask God for help in the process to seek to rebuild the city wall. So we spoke in depth about what do people really struggle about and how to overcome it. I'll post this teaching up soon.

Guess what. During service, Shirley spoke about the same topic. And the bring home point was the same. Letting God's will be done on us.

Really, there was no communication between us. The last time this happened was in a NS vision night 6 months ago. The sermon verse was the exact same verse is was going to launch my vision night with. And the context was the same as well. Well, if you believe its coincidence, den ok. But i choose to believe that its something from God to hit home certain points.

I spoke to PJ just now. He was teaching me the importance to see things in a more balanced manner. Like how i always push for missions but i agree with him that it is more than just going up the stage and telling people to go for missions. When something is not right, we need to look at all the underlying factors. and push forward the kingdom on all frontiers and not just the area we are on fire about.

Guess i should not keep on ranting about why people don't want to go for missions but seek to understand the situation better and what have been done till now and how we can just improve things.

Jie Hui
