Chapter V

Dear Woodworm,

We’ve been gaining momentum on our attack on the worship session but we need to yield results faster before any of the lowly creatures actually have a life transforming time with the enemy. The next skill is one of the most effective one I have ever managed to attain. I’m sure with that skill used on the worship session, we’ll create a huge dent in the enemy’s kingdom.

The next skill is a special skill used to attack the Achilles heel of the enemy’s stronghold. To understand how to use this skill, you must first understand the concept of why those lowly creatures worship the enemy. Although there is absolutely no reason why the enemy is worthy to be held high, he has somehow managed to use the creature’s inclination to rhythms and beats to create an emotional atmosphere of voices, music and sometimes tears.

By cunningly hiding words that praise himself into these songs, the enemy somehow managed to create this session called praise and worship in the churches today. I do admit that some of the songs do sound nice but that is because of the hard work of our master Lucifer, who was the beholder of rhythms and beats. This is where their Achilles heel comes in. Some of the songs of worship these creatures sing are really jumpy and catchy. Our task now is to captivate these lowly creatures with the tune of the song and pull them away from the meaning of the song. Let them worship the songs!

Do this well and you’ll have a façade of a great worship session with outstretched hands and great singing when in fact, all that was worshipped was the tune of the song. We love sing –a-long sessions, don’t we? This is ultimately the mark of a powerful devil.

From your affectionate uncle,
Screwtape
