Guard Duty

Recently there has been a big hoo haa about a guy named dave running away from his camp with his gun and went shopping instead. It sparked off a 20 hr manhunt for him. After that incident, there has been a typical knee jerk reaction from the army

Now, let me suggest my humble opinion on how well we can avoid another dave-a-mania.

1) Deploy guards to guard agasint those on guard duty. This added protection will prevent people like dave from running away. But again, who is going to guard against those newly deployed guards?

2) Maybe we should have a buddy system where the newly deployed guards and the actual guards are kept accountable for one another. But then again, what was dave's buddy doing on that night?

3) It was reported that those guys didn't do their rounds around the camp. I mean, who does? haha.. Just ask those on duty, if they actually really do prowl all the rounds especially when they are old birds le. Maybe we should put one off pass at every checkpoint. With this, you may see people doing extra rounds. We'll then have the safest camps in the world. They can even train for their IPPT.

4) The news report showed the photo of Mandai hill camp's guard room being caged up. Oops, i mean grilled up. Why not we jst lock those people with guns in DB? Then we won't have people running away. haa.. at this rate, the whole SAF will be in DB, Heh.

5) Let's see, if that is not fisible, why not we issue toy SAR 21 guns to the guards instead? No one will know the difference anyway. They look the same.

6) They don't have so many toy SAR21 guns ehh.. hmm.. Why not we just cancel guard duty?? haha.. the NSFs who read this will love me man. Who in the world will want to get into those camps when everyone is trying to get out.

Regards,

Jie Hui
